The interplay of voiceless and voiced sounds in Qabbani’s elegy immortalizing Balqis
AbstractThe elegy of Balqis holds a significant place in contemporary Arabic poetry, renowned for its length and magnificence. Within its verses lie encrypted structures and enigmatic ideas, challenging literary scholars to decode its symbols. Yet it has received relatively little scholarly attention concerning phono-semantics. To address this gap, this descriptive-analytical study deciphered many of the symbols and words within poetic texts and a prosodic analysis revealed the correlation between specific phonetic features (voiced and voiceless sounds) and the semantic content (themes, emotions) of the poem. Furthermore, to achieve scientific accuracy, this work calculated the percentage of voiced and voiceless sounds, gutturalization, for each poetic segment. Results revealed that the ratio of voiceless (1612 sounds = 17%) to voiced sounds (3204 sounds = 34%) in the elegy has deviated markedly from established speech patterns (5 to 20%), rendering the recorded percentage of these sounds notably elevated, or even exceedingly high. The current study holds significant importance as an extensive search of databases, including academic search engines, peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and linguistic resources spanning the past decade, has not uncovered any previous attempts to analyze this specific elegy from a phono-semantic perspective. Finally, suggestions for future research are presented to serve as the foundation for forthcoming studies.
Exploring the evolution of functional linguistics: linking Arabic theoretical linguistics with modern linguistics
The objective of this research is to establish a connection between Arabic theoretical linguistics and modern linguistics, taking a different approach from the common assumption that later theories are solely attributed to Arab grammarians and rhetoricians. To achieve this, the study will examine Arab linguistic achievements from a modern perspective and highlight commonalities and differences between past and present linguistic theories. Additionally, the research will delve into the Arab understanding of functional grammar and the significant contributions made by ancient grammarians in this area, while also reviewing the evolution of functional theory in the West from its inception until its final formulation . Furthermore, this study will undertake an analytical review of the most significant theories that emerged after Jakobson, to identify gaps and opportunities for further development. The research findings reveal that modern linguists continue to evolve their theories, in contrast to the stunted evolution of Arab heritage due to a reverence for tradition and fear of change. As a result, the research calls for the development of early Arab linguists, whose contributions served as the foundation for language theories in general and linguistics in particular.

يواجه قطاع التعليم عدداً كبيراً من التحديات التي دفعت الباحثين والأكادميين لبدء البحث عن حل. الذكاء الاصطناعي هو من بين الحلول المقترحة التي تحظى باهتمام كبير في الآونة الأخيرة. ومع ذلك، لا يزال اعتماده في قطاع التعليم منخفضاً بسبب التحديات، مثل الافتقار إلى التجارب السليمة، والاختبار، والتوصية بتطبيقه في هذا القطاع. تسعى هذه المقالة لاستكشاف مدى إمكانيات الدول العربية والدولية في تطبيق هذا الاكتشاف في التعليم. تتوافق منهجية البحث مع بروتوكول المسح السريع Khangura, 2012 الذي يقدم مراجعة بحثية منهجية من ثماني خطوات للعديد من الدراسات التي أجريت على دمج الذكاء الاصطناعي في التعليم. وتخلص هذه المقالة إلى أن الذكاء الاصطناعي يمكن أن يلعب دوراً أساسياً في تحسين جودة وفعالية التعليم وذلك من خلال تطوير المناهج الرقمية، التشغيل الآلي للأنشطة التعليمية الأساسية واعتماد التطبيقات ذات صلة بال Chat-bot. وقدمت هذه الدراسة توصيات للبحوث في المستقبل.
